Description

Please note, this course is applied for through NHS jobs in the first instance, and applicants will need to have been successful at interview before completing the University application form via this webpage. Places on this course are funded by the NHS, as advertised on NHS jobs.

This course is designed for people that do not already possess a first degree. This will enable nurses to gain competence and confidence in working as a district nurse in primary care settings and enhance their development for leading and managing a team in a dynamic and innovative way that enables the members of that team to care for more acutely ill patients in primary care as well as promoting independence whenever possible.

Key themes will thread throughout the taught programme to include:

  • Promoting independence and reablement
  • The development of advanced clinical expertise and management of complexity within the district nursing role.
  • Effective delivery of care for long term conditions, including palliative and end of life care and dementia.
  • Developing the use of technology to support patients
  • Evidence based practice
  • Leadership and management of people and resources
  • Collaborative working with patients, families, carers and professionals.

This course includes the V100 which enables successful candidates to prescribe from the community practitioners formulary.

Entry requirements

  • Prior to completing this application, you must have been successful at interview and offered a fully funded place through NHS jobs.
  • This course is not available to self-funders.
  • To study at Level 6 you should have evidence of Level 5 qualifications or equivalent.
