An essential part of continuing to become a safe and effective NMP is to maintain competence and undertake annual CPD and revalidation as specified by their supervisor. It is also important NMPs are kept up-to-date with any changes that affect safe prescribing such as changes to the law and medicine safety.  As part of Bournemouth University and Trusts commitment to safe prescribing this half day    update is designed to meet those needs.  

It is suitable for anyone with a non-medical prescribing qualification.

This prescribing update will be split into 2 parts which can be seen from the programme structure below:

• To consider The importance of maintain competency and ways this can be achieved

• Discuss the RPS single competency Framework the NMC and HCP standards for prescribing 

Part 2 1045-1230 Rob Harvey / Adam Hocking

• Preparation for becoming a Designated Prescribing Practitioner/Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor for Prescribing (DPP)
• Expectations of a DPP
• Resources to support DPPs
• Antimicrobials
• update on mechanisms of action
• antimicrobial stewardship
• novel antimicrobial agents.
