Description

This part-time Postgraduate Diploma top-up course is available to students who have completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership in Health Care (3507) and wish to progress to Postgraduate Diploma or even Masters level study. The Postgraduate Diploma top up consists of 60 credits of taught modules, taken over one year. 

This course focusses upon leadership, change management, quality improvement and evidence-based service innovation and delivery, all key to the delivery of high quality health care. The centrality of the patient/service user in health and social care is championed; this is the central core around which services should be developed and delivered. Professionals in the caring professions need to be able to develop, provide and continually evaluate and enhance to provide the highest standards of evidence based. Delivery of a proven, high quality service which continually evolves to meet the changing needs of all service users is the aim of practitioners in the caring professions.

On completion of this Postgraduate Diploma students can elect to take the top-up dissertation module to achieve the MSc Leadership and Service Improvement in Health Care (5309) award. You can find this top-up course and apply on the CPPD prospectus.

Alternatively, health care professionals may apply for the whole MSc Leadership and Service Improvement in Health Care (3904) course, taken over either three or four years. You can find this course and apply on the CPPD prospectus.

  • Applicants will have successfully completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership in Health Care (3507) at London South Bank University. You can find this course and apply on the CPPD prospectus.

Students will continue to develop their ability to develop and lead improvements in a range of settings. In addition, students will develop their leadership knowledge and skills which can be applied to the delivery of a high quality, evidence-based service linked to service user, staff and organisational outcomes. Students will be able to further build their strategic view of their service and the interrelationships with other services within their organisation. Students will develop their influencing skills and have the opportunity to either develop their appreciation of coaching/mentoring in the workplace or develop specific strategic for enhancing patient and public engagement in their service.

On successful completion of the required modules in this table, you will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership and Service Improvement in Health Care. Students who achieve this award will also be eligible to top up to an MSc in Leadership and Service Improvement in Health Care (5309).
